There’s a particular energy in a church in September. Vacations wind down, kids go back to school, and a congregation that’s been scattered across beaches and lazy Sundays starts finding its way back into one room. Catch the Spirit Sunday is First Congregational’s way of making that moment count instead of just letting the year quietly restart.

The name means something. Catching the Spirit happens when a room full of people, some back from time away and some who never left, show up together with the same idea in mind: let’s start this year off right. That’s the Spirit moving through a congregation that’s whole again, and on Sept. 13, 2026 is when Wallingford gathers to feel it.

Church School kicks off on Catch the Spirit Sunday! Come and meet your teachers and classmates for a year of fun learning about God, Bible Stories, and more! Our theme this year is God’s Mighty Kingdom!

Meet your teachers

Stop by before the service to meet your teachers! Students can then process down the aisle with them and Pastor Jeff at the beginning of the service to show their spirit for the upcoming year! Our teachers this year are Lori Fast-Minkema, Gina Philips, Amanda Nesto, and Kathy Wallace.
